San Jose: Google+, Google’s biggest challenge to Facebook, hit a major milestone this week. The company announced that Google Plus has more than 200 million registrations. This is a major landmark for the company which is challenging Facebook with 800 million users. Most of the registrations come directly from the popular service Gmail. Google recently implemented changes that automatically log a user into Google+ when they check their Gmail.
The company also hit another major landmark by having more than 2000 active users. Active users are those who actually use Google+ for sharing their updates, photos or videos. About 50% of these users are expected to be Google employees using Google+ to track their internal projects. The rest belong to a close knit fraternity from the Potrero Hills area in San Francisco.
